31 Meet Records at Karnival Meet in Bukit Jalil
The first AKL-MSWP Swimming Talent Carnival (Karnival Bakat Sukan Renang AKL-MSWP 2025) was held on the 31st May and 1st June, 2025 at the National Aquatic Centre, Bukit Jalil. As with the Novice Meets, the aim of this new Swimming Carnival is to encourage swimming for young children and to identify new talents at the junior levels in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan areas.
The Meet is specifically meant for Malaysians who are novice or non-state swimmers from registered affiliates and swimming clubs and have not advanced in any of the major inter-club Swim Meets in the preceding years. The Meet also served as the qualifying Meet for the selection of swimmers for the National swimming series of Karnival Bakat Kebangsaan (KBK) to be organized by Majlis Sukan Negara in 2025.
A total of 104 swimmers from DSA Swimming Club, Kuala Lumpur participated in the 2-day Meet at Bukit Jalil. It was a great weekend for the swimmers to be participating in a Swim Meet at their home location and they won a total of 90 medals which included 30 Golds and established 31 Meet Records.
The Gold medallists and record creators included Damien Cheong Min Zhe and Wong Kyzie from Group 3 who topped the count with 5 Golds and Meet records. Danielle Rae Chiew Wern Ee from Group 4 won 4 Golds with new records. Christina Isabelle Fernandiz, Ooi Jee Kay, Aryan Caleb Nair, Nik Nameera Nadine Binti Nik M Farid and Aleeya Rose binti Norazri added 2 Golds and 2 new records each for the team while Marisa Lim Yi Ting, Tan Wei Xuan, Dylan Ngoi Win Yit, Matthew Chin Zi Shen, Dexter Kam Yuan Zi, Victoria Jun-Lin Tan and Yam Ee Ren brought home a Gold and a new record each to their names.
The other swimmers who ended the weekend with podium finishes included Lee Jun Ming, Asyrafiq Ahmad Rozi, Shahista Karleesha binti Shahmi Saifuddin, Ahmad Halfy, Chang Ji Syuen, Joey Chee Zhia Xuan, Shawn Boey Wei Xiang, Tan Wei Ni, Skyler Yap Zhe Yu, Muhd Aref Rafiq Mohd Huzaidi, Yam Ee Ren and Tang Zi Qian (Violet).
