Swimming Club make huge haul at SportExcel Circuit Leg 1 Meet
The SportExcel / Milo / NSC / MAS Swimming Circuit is designed to offer additional competitive opportunities to nurture and develop swimming talent across Malaysia, with the goal of achieving success at both national and international levels. Participation in the SportExcel Circuit is limited to swimmers whose personal best times meet or exceed the Minimum Time Standards set for each event.
The Circuit comprises two preliminary legs conducted simultaneously across three regions—Central, Northern, and East Malaysia—followed by a Grand Final. The Northern Region consisted of Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Terengganu, Kelantan, Pahang. The Central Region included Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Johor and East Malaysia covered Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan areas.
As with the previous year, only Malaysian swimmers are eligible to receive medals and podium incentives for the Top 3 placements. Foreign swimmers may participate and earn points to qualify for the Grand Final, but are not eligible for podium rewards.
DSA, DSAS and DSAJ Swimming Clubs participated in the Meet for the Central Region which was held at Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsan, Shah Alam on the 16th-18th of May. The combined swimmers from DSA stood at 209 and after 3 days of intense competitive swimming, the swimmers brought home a total of 134 medals which included 50 Golds, besides having created a breath-taking 7 Meet Records.
The trail blazing record breakers included Cham Yu Xiang who won 4 Golds with 3 Meet Records and Wong Shi Qi with 2 Golds and 2 Meet Records, both of whom were in the Open Swimmers category. Olivia Seow Cui Ying who won 2 Golds created a new Record in Group 2 category while Kayler Ngan Kang Yi with 3 Golds was the other record breaker in the Group 3 category.
Other stars who contributed to the huge 50 Golds collection included Noah Abdul Rizal in Group 3 with a staggering 7 Golds in his events, Keira Lee Shwen in Group 4 with 6 Golds, Anabelle Kong Shu Li in Group 2 also with 6 Golds, Evan Chua Min Hao in Group 1 with 4 Golds, Evita Tan Ee Lin from Group 2 and Alysha Aryana Mohd Khairul in Group 4 with 3 Golds each. Besides these Ethan Chua Min Han, Aydan Chew Hwe Zhe, Bo Yu Hew, Lee E-An, Ong Zhi Kheam, Lee Chi Ning, Zhi Ju Ho, Liew Yu Shan and Owen Chan Kai Wen all added a Gold each to the team tally.
Other podium finishers with their excellent performances included Joseph Chan Kai Xiang, Cham Yu Yang, Ethan Eng Yeung Zjung, Jamie Chee Zhia Xin, Isaac Chen Yen-Bo, Muhamad Akash Rifqi, Jamie Koh Jun Ming, Clifford Yeap Shun Long, Isaac Lee Ming, Wah Hao Ran, Foo Qi Wei, Raeka Ong, Alynna Yong Zhang Ya, Natalie Rae Chiew Zhen Ee, Sasha Caunter Chin Liyen, Daniella Lian Yue Yan, Lee Xin Tung, Henri James Johan Keeton, Zuhayra Adn Zulkifli, Cassandra Wong Zi En and Lisa Katherina Siemers. Medals for DSA Penang at Ipoh Meet
DSA Swimming Club also participated in the Meet for the Northern Region which was held at Pusat Akuatik Tuanku Zara, Ipoh, Perak on the 16th-18th of May. 13 swimmers from DSA Penang participated in the Meet which is the first time for all of them to participate in a national level inter-club Meet. The swimmers brought home 11 medals which included 1 Gold won by Ronan Cheong Hao Jin from Group 1. Other medal winners included Hoo Jean Yee, Gareth Goh and Goh Hao Wei.
