DSA Runners-up at Shah Alam Meet

8th Selangor ARENA Short Course Meet 2019


DSA Swim Clubs (Selangor & KL) win second overall spot at both State and Novice Divisions with 10 new Meet records

Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsan, Shah Alam was the venue for the 8th Selangor ARENA Short Course Sprint Invitational Swimming Championships 2019 held on 27-29 August 2019. Being a Selangor Invitational Meet, all Selangor affiliate clubs including both DSA-Selangor and DSA-KL participated with DSA-KL swimmers participated in the State Swimmers category. Both the clubs had a great time with the young swimmers achieving many firsts and brought home a number of medals in both divisions.

DSA Selangor finished as the first Runner-Up in the Novice category and second Runner-Up in the State category while DSA KL took the first Runner-Up in the State category. There was a number of great performances to record by the DSA team, 19 of the swimmers were in the Overall Top 3 of their own age-group category which is quite a remarkable feat. DSA Champ Fatin Amira Ahmad Hadri won the Best Female Athlete amassing 9 Golds and 2 Silvers with 3 Meet Records with some brilliant performances in the pool. Yap Yong Jie, another of DSA’s favourite won the Best Male Athlete garnering 6 Golds and 1 Silver with 7 Meet Records.

Eunice Wong Ee Yin – First Runner-Up (Girls 10 yrs & under),
Jaydrien Ng Shen Khang – First  Runner-Up (Boys 10 yrs & under),
Yean Yu Ng – First  Runner-Up (Boys 11-12 yrs)
Sajina Aishath – First  Runner-Up (Girls 18 yrs & over).

Top performers in the Novice Division were
Yoong Chang Lin Lin – Overall Champion (Boys 10 yrs & under),
Charmaine Hung Yun Wen Lin – Overall Champion (Girls 11-12 yrs),
Jayden Wong Ken Ryu – Overall Champion (Boys 11-12 yrs),
Trisha Chong Sue Yan – Overall Champion (Girls 15-17 yrs),
Lim Le Kun – Overall Champion (Boys 15-17 yrs),
Lee Zi Ying – First  Runner-Up (Girls 13-14 yrs),
Loong Wen Shuen– First  Runner-Up (Boys 13-14 yrs),
Joanne Lew Zi Yan – Second Runner-Up (Girls 11-12 yrs),
Aldreena Wong Chun Rei – Second Runner-Up (Girls 13-14 yrs),
Audrey Wong Mei Yie – Second Runner-Up (Girls 15-17 yrs).

A lot of outstanding swimmers in addition also contributed to the DSA tally which included  Muhammad Zullquman Razali: 3 Golds, Koh Zhi Ying: 6 Silvers, Nicholas Chan Zhe Yan: 1 Gold and Afieq Azrin: 2 Golds among their many medals. Some notable performances were Aldreena Wong Chun Rei winning a Gold on her very first Meet, and Yap Jun Hin and  Isabelle Leong Zi Qing all winning Silver and Bronze in their first Meet too. Seungmin Woo, despite being grouped with older boys in his draw still brought home 3 Silvers from the Meet. And definitely someone to watch out in the coming years is the upcoming champion, Yoong Chang Lin Lin who won a total of 6 Golds and winning the Overall Champion position in his age group.   DSA Swimming Club also had the honour of making a Meet Record in the Mixed 11-12 yrs 4×50 SC Meter Medley Relay  with the quartet of Chong Xin Lin, Alex Sew Jia Wei, Yap Yong Jie and Dian Isandra Johan. It was a great celebration of the team spirit as both the clubs of DSA Swim Team created new Meet records and also took home a host of medals. The swimmers left no stone unturned in their training and the dedication of the swimmers, parents and the DSA coaches have once again shone through. Brilliant performance and onward Team DSA!
