DSA Swimming Club blasts open 2023 with Top Spot

22 New Meet Records, 93 Golds at PRAKL Meet in Bukit Jalil

DSA Swimming Clubs had a mega explosive blast off for the year 2023 as they made history yet again in the MILO/PRAKL Age Group Swimming Championship 2023 held at the National Aquatic Centre, KL Sports City on 06-08 Jan. Going better than their previous count of 18 new Meet Records at the previous instance of the Meet in 2020, DSA Swimming Club obliterated the competition with an astounding 93 Golds, a never before feat. It was a great opening weekend for the young Club members as they start the swimming calendar on an unbelievable high being crowned Overall Champions at the Meet.

The first Meet of the Malaysian Swimming Calendar saw some of the best yet performances by the young DSA Swimmers. Being the biggest team of the Meet with 187 swimmers in the fray, the results could not have been better.

The pathbreaking record setters included Chong Xin Lin with 6 Meet Records in the Girls 15-17 yrs Group 1, Georgene Wee Ee Jern with 4 Meet Records in the Girls 18-25 yrs Group Open, Jayden Tan Khai Xin with 3 Meet Records in the Boys 18-25 yrs Group Open and Cham Yu Xiang with 3 Meet Records in the Boys 15-17 yrs Group 1. Charlotte Loke and Grace Ju Won Kim made 2 New Records each in their Girls 15-17 yrs Group 1 while Lau Jin Kiat  and Elsa Eow Yeng Yii added 1 New Record each to their respective groups.

The Gold Medal winners included Gabriel Francis McCartan with a whopping 6 Golds and Megan Ho with another 6 Golds were the big haulers followed by Elizabeth Chan Yiwen with 5 Golds. Olivia Seow Cui Ying, Ho Zhi Ju, Lewis Mu Zi Long and Henri James Johan Keeton won 4 Golds each in the Groups while Annis Hiew Xin Ting, Yap Yong Jie, Sebastien Rion Azlir, Jaydrien Ng Shen Khang, Anya Madison C. Angeles and Anna Maglai brought home 2 Golds each.

Shahenry Wong Bin Shadzlee , Yap Inn She, Yii Shyun Wern, Mellissa Nailly Darwin, Kierstan Khoo Wei Ee, Woo Seungmin, Evita Tan Ee Lin, Yui Hirano, Noma Horiuchi and Teoh Jet Ning added a Gold each to the team tally with their smashing performances.

The other podium finishers included Shermann Choong Li Sheng, Liam Eu Li-An, Alexander Quinn C. Angeles, Lim Qi Feng, Charlene Loke, Liew Xiao Rou, Yii Shyun Tiing, Elyse Tan Yan Lynn, Noah Zameer Lee, Edwin Fu Yi Zhuo, Chen Shijie, Eunice Wong Ee Yin, Josette Ewe Xin Yue, Vitus So Teng Hoe, Aaron Harris Hashim, Cham Yu Yang, Lim Sean Khye, Sophie Chan Yi Lin, Yap Inn Xuan, Lee Chi Ning, Liew Xiao Qi and Ava Loong Yue. The Relay events too witnessed new Meet Records set by DSA swimmers. A total of 6 New Records for Relays were made during the Meet which included Girls 15-17 yrs Group 1, Girls 11-12 yrs Group 3 and Girls 5-8 yrs Group 5 in their various events. The Boys 18-25 yrs Open and Boys 15-17 yrs Group 1 also created new Meet records in their Medley events. A detailed view of the Relays Medal Tally can be downloaded from the links below.

The Meet was most definably a great start for the swimmers and the Club and retained the Overall Champion title from the last Meet shows that DSA Swimming Club is dedicated to creating champions and keeping the standards of Malaysian Swimming flying high.
