DSA Swimming Club start year with big win at Bukit Jalil


Overall Champion with 21 Meet Records and 127 Golds at AKL Age Group Meet

The first Swim Meet of the year, the AKL Age Group Swimming Championships 2025 was held on 16-19 January at the National Aquatic Centre, Bukit Jalil. The Meet was also the qualifying Meet to the Malaysia Invitational Age Group Swimming Championships 2025 (MIAG) and the Malaysia Open Swimming Championships 2025.

With over 500 swimmers participating, the Meet was hectic with 4 days of explosive action as the competition was intense. In the end, DSA Swimming Club with a team of 192 swimmers finished as the Overall Champion of the Meet. The Swimming Club created 21 Meet Records and amassed 258 medals which included 127 Golds.

Jerriel Lau and Cham Yu Xiang were exemplary in the performance creating a staggering 4 new Meet Records each in their events. Charlotte Loke was another star of the Open Group with her amazing 3 new Meet Records. Shermann Choong Li Sheng also added one more new Meet Record for DSA in his event.  Adam Jeffrey Dillon also added one more Gold to the team tally in the Open group. Other medal winners in the Open group included Georgene Wee Ee Jern, Angus Lim, Yap Yong Jie, Dylan Ong Guan Khye, Lau Jin Kiat, Marcus Chong Yung Fatt and Shahenry Shadzlee.

Vitus So Teng Hoe created a new Meet Record in Group 1 while Annis Hiew Xin Ting took home 4 Golds in her events. Ashley Soh Wern Yi, Mellissa Nailly Darwin, Seungmin Woo were the other multiple Gold winners in the Group while Angel Zhou and Jacob Tsen Ze Yu added a Gold each to the team total from Group 1. Other medal winners in this group included Jamie Chee Zhia Xin, Ethan Chee Wei Jin, Cham Yu Yang, Elsa Eow Yeng Yii, Chen Shijie, Anna Zhou, Ashton Soh Je Zhen, Chong En Ci, Fu Yi Zhuo, Wang Jun Xi and Sebastien Rion Azlir.

Megan Ho was the star in Group 2 with a new Meet Record and 6 Golds in her events along with Olivia Seow Cui Ying who also won 6 Golds among their many medals. Evita Tan Ee Lin took 2 Golds while Yap Inn Xuan with one Gold also added to the Golds total of the Club. Analey Yap Cai Li and Tan Yi Wen were the other medal winners from the group.

Lewis Mu Zi Long was brilliant with 2 Meet records in Group 3 and took 5 Golds along with Noah Abdul Rizal who also took home 5 Golds and added his name too to the record books with a new Meet Record. Aylah Wang also took home 5 Golds in the Girls category of the Group while Ho Zhi Ju and Lee Xin Tung won 3 Golds and 2 Golds in the group respectively. Tee Boon Huan won another Gold for the team which was also a new Meet Record while Hiew Lik Yang and Grace Ge Zi Xin added a Gold each to the team total. Other podium finishers in the group included Ava Loong Yue, Lee Chi Ning, Averie Lim Zhi En, Theadora Raeesa Joseph, Natalie Rae Chiew Zhen Ee, Tee Him and Yusuf Ajwad B Hadaffi Hanif.

Group 4 was the best of the pack with little Anna Maglai winning a stupendous, unbelieveable and probably never before 10 Golds, a Gold in every event she competed in. This was a really far-reaching performance by young Anna and there will surely be much more glory she will bring to the club and the country in the future. Henri James Johan Keeton did exceedingly well with 6 Golds while Braydon Ang, Cayden How Xuan Hee, Thon Kok Jun and Yui Hirano made their valuable contribution with podium finishes in the Meet. Zhang He Ning from Group 5 won 4 Golds and a Silver in her events, making the young proud of her achievements at such a young age.

In the Relay events, DSA Swimming Clubs established 3 new Meet Records. Both the Boys and the Girls of Group 4 created new Meet Records in the Medley Relay while the Girls from Group 2 made their record win in the Medley event too. Gold winners in the Relay included Group 2 Girls Freestyle and Group 3 both Boys and Girls Medley and Freestyle Relays. Group 4 Boys and Girls won the Freestyle Relays while the Open and Mixed Group relays won podium finishes. A detailed view of the medal tally can be downloaded from the links below.

The Meet proved to be a great start for 2025 for DSA Swimming Club and we wish them all the luck for the upcoming Meets which are lined up to last all through the year.
