DSAS blasts off to explosive start at SAG Meet


 Swimming Club make huge haul of 342 medals, 7 State Records & 22 Meet Records at Bukit Jalil Meet

The 35th Selangor Age Group Swimming Championships 2026 was held on 8-11 January at National Aquatic Centre, Bukit Jalil. DSA Swimming Club had a team of 182 swimmers, one of the largest contingents of the Meet competing with the best of the state’s swimming clubs.

At the end of the 4-day Meet, DSAS Swimming Club finished as First Runner Up with a total of a whopping 342 medals which included 140 Golds. Besides this DSA swimmers also created 22 new Meet Records and 7 new State Records, truly an amazing achievement in the first Swim Meet of the calendar year for Selangor State.

The champions for DSA at the Meet was State Swimmer Noma Horiuchi from Group 3 who was declared Overall Champion Girl and Group 3 Girls Champion (State) for her stupendous performance winning 10 Golds which included 3 new State Records in the 50 Meter, 100 Meter and 200 Meter Backstroke events.

Other Meet Records in the State Swimmers category included Liew Yu Shan in the 200 Meter Backstroke and Aiden Zarief in the 100 Meter Butterfly.  DSA Swimmers also won the following awards for the excellent performance.

Most Valuable Swimmer Awards (State category):

  • Aiden Zarief – Champion (Group 4 Boys)
  • Noma Horiuchi – Champion (Group 3 Girls)
  • Itto Horiuchi – Champion (Group 3 Boys)
  • Liew Yu Shan – Champion (Group 2 Girls)
  • Zhang He Ning – 1st Runner-Up (Group 4 Girls)
  • Keira Lee Shwen – 1st Runner-Up (Group 3 Girls)
  • Rebecca Lyu ChunYuan – 2nd Runner-Up (Group 2 Girls)

In addition to the above Champions, the other swimmers who did the Club proud in this category included Raeka Ong from Group 3 and Kaelyn Chee Wei Yi from Group 1 won 3 Golds. In the Open category Calvin Lee Shin Rong and Chong Jun Ron won 2 Golds each, Kang Zhen Tai from Group 1 won 2 Golds while Amanda Koek Gelacio from Group 4 also took home 2 Golds. Evan Chua Min Hao, Kota Kobayashi, Hyeonjoong Kil from Group 1; Isaac Lee Ming, Samuel Eng Yeung Shane and Sasha Caunter Chin Liyen from Group 2 and Winona Tay Yu Tang from Group 3 added a Gold each to the team tally.

Other DSA swimmers in State Swimmers who had podium finishes included Ng Yean Yu, Yap Zhen Yi, Ian Tan Zhi Kai, Marvin Woo Yong Jie, Muhammad Araiz Mohd Huzaidi, Muhammad Haziq Hariz Hazli, Ng Wen Hann, Gabrielle M.P. Hills, Yap Ke Hui, Isabelle Leong Zi Qing, Jamie Koh Jun Ming, Khaeyr Adrian, Jiang Bo Xiu, Tai Sze Wei, Heidi Lim Pei Xin, Kim Seohyeon Helena, Lee Kenyi, Shusuke Kobayashi, Joshua Tan Ker Jin and Muhammad Hazim Hariz Hazli.

 

In the Novice Swimmers category, Kyle Chan Kai Jie from Group 5 created 4 Meet Records in the 50 Meter Backstroke, Freestyle and Butterfly and 100 Meter Freestyle events in addition to winning 8 Golds in his events. Kyle Chan was also awarded the Group 5 Boys Champion for his stupendous performance. Other awards for DSA Novice swimmers included the following

  • Kayden Chan Kai De – Champion (Group 4 Boys)
  • Dylan Cho – 1st Runner-Up (Group 3 Boys)
  • Kimberly Nguyen Kim Ly – 1st Runner-Up (Group 2 Girls)
  • Chong Jia Ying – 1st Runner-Up (Group 2 Girls)
  • Danish Haiqal Ahmad Firdaus – 2nd Runner-Up (Group 1 Boys)
  • Ong Zi Yi – 2nd Runner-Up (Group 1 Girls)
  • Gareth Chaz Ho – 2nd Runner-Up (Group 5 Boys)

DSA Swimmers in the Novice swimmers category who brought glory to the team included Koh Jun Jie from Group 2 who won 3 Golds; Javan Pun Jin Wen from Group 1 and Mia Larissa Mohamad from Group 3 who won 2 Golds each while Leong Joe Yip, Ethan Chua Min Han, Pradhyum Sundar Shreenaath, Khaiter Wan-Leong, Kahlil Lennon Ong, Low Kenji and Melor Putri Khayla Putra Safari added a Gold each to the team tally.

Other DSA swimmers who added Silvers and Bronzes with their great performance at the Meet included Aryan Caleb Nair, Isaac Chen Yen-Bo, Nigel Lee Tzi Yue, Marvyn Teoh Min Wei, Ethan Eng Yeung Zjung, Olyvia Magdalene Foley, Jada Choong Zhi Qing, Pei Jiayi, Mia Lim Jia Yen, Chloe Tan Xuen Yi, Saw Kenz Ji, Jacob Soon Zheng Yang, Kaira Reyes Lau, Shanie Yeok Lin, Kaiser Chen Hao Ren, Ellie Chung and Amelda Wong Zi Qian.

In the Relay events, DSA swimmers created a new State Record in the Group 3 Girls 12-13 4×100 LC Meter Medley Relay and 4 other Meet Records.
