DSAS start year as first Runner up at Shah Alam


2 State Records and 11 Meet Records at Selangor Age Group Meet

The 34th Selangor Age Group Swimming Championships 2025 was held on 16-19 January at PADE, Shah Alam. 17 Swim Clubs from the State of Selangor with 853 swimmers in total participated in the Meet in Shah Alam. DSAS Swimming Club had a team of 170 swimmers, the second largest contingent of the Meet competing with the best of the state’s swimming clubs.

At the end of the 4-day Meet, DSAS Swimming Club finished as First Runner Up with a total of 212 medals which included 91 Golds.

In the Novice Swimmers category, Amanda Koek Gelacio created 7 new Meet Records while winning her 8 Golds in the Girls 9& Under age group which also made her the Group 5 Overall Champion. The Club also had one State Record in Novice Swimmers, Kyle Chan Kai Jie who create a new State record in the 100 Meter Backstroke event in the Boys 9 & Under age Group and becoming the first Runner Up for Group 5.

Shazia Aqeela Muhd Saiful was declared the Overall Champion of Group 4 with her 3 Golds win while Rebecca Lyu ChunYuan was the Group 3 Overall Champion with her 7 Golds. Foo Qi Wei was Group 3 First Runner Up with 4 Golds and Tai Sze Wei was the Second Runner Up for the group. Jamie Koh Jun Ming finished as Second Runner Up of Group 2 with 2 Golds while Sean Jibreel Ahmad Reza was the Group 1 Second Runner Up with 2 Golds.

Other Gold winners in the Novice swimmers category included Muhammad Araiz Mohd Huzaid and Chong Jia Ying and Sunny Quan Shu Xian with 3 Golds each. Max Lim Jia Jun, Khaeyr Adrian, Sasha Caunter Chin Liyen won 2 Golds each in their events while Ng Wen Hann, Nigel Lee Tzi Yue, Yap Zhen Yi, Isaac Chen Yen-Bo, Ethan Chua Min Han, Chong Jun Jet, Ong Kai Jun, Janelle Choo, Ryan Wong Hoong Ern and Aiden Zarief took home a Gold each. Other medal winners included Danish Haiqal Ahmad Firdau, Ethan Eng Yeung Zjun, Ng Jing Yang, Clifford Yeap Shun Long, Tay Eu Gene, Olyvia Magdalene Foley, Nik Daris Rayyan Bin Nik Zuriaz, Daniella Lian Yue Yan and Melor Putri Khayla Putra Saf.

In the State swimmers category Shannon Tan Yan Qing created a State Rcord in the 100 Meter Freestyle and was also declared the Group 2 Overall Champion for her amazing 9 Golds and 1 Silver finishes. Keira Lee Shwen created a new Meet Record in the 50 Meter Breaststroke and was the Group 4 First Runner Up with 4 Golds, Hyeonjoong Kil had a new Record in the 50 Meter Freestyle and was the Group 1 First Runner Up with 2 Golds. Bo Xiu Jiang created Meet Records in both 100 and 200 Meter Breaststroke events. Yeo Khaining was the second Runner Up in the Open Group with 2 Golds. Other Gold winners included Chong Jun Ron, Ng Yean Yu, Jaden Ong Jun Xian, Jayden Yap Ee Jen, Kaelyn Chee Wei Yi, Kang Zhen Tai and Yap Ke Hui in their respective groups.

Other podium finishers in the State swimmers category included Calvin Lee Shin Rong, Evan Chua Min Hao, Joelle Koo Yu Qing, Ryan Ee Tian Aymes,  Gabrielle M.P. Hills, Elvis Ong Ee Zhe, Aiden Tan Yong Jia, Yoong Chang Lin, Heidi Lim Pei Xin, Kota Kobayashi, Masato Mark Fujimoto, Madeline Foo Sook Lynn, Neelkantha, Pok Sin Yee and Shusuke Kobayashi.

The Relay events also had spectacular performance from the DSAS Swimming Club swimmers from all Groups with a total of 9 Golds coming from them along with many Silvers and Bronzes. A detailed view of the medals tally can be downloaded from the links below.

It was a great opening for DSAS Swimming Club as the first age group competition for the year finished with a bountiful result. We look forward to greater performances by the swimmers of the club and wish them the best as they prepare for the many Meets coming up in the year ahead.
