The 31st Selangor Age Group Swimming Championship was the first Age Group Swim Meet of the year 2022 with the sporting activities slowly opening up as the pandemic waned down. With the training having been disrupted last year, it was quite a difficult task to be in any competitive shape for the Meet, but the DSAS Swimmers were ready for the challenge. 118 DSAS Swimmers took part in the Meet held at Pusat Aquatik Darul Ehsan, Shah Alam from 7th to 9th January.
DSAS Swimming Club finished second overall with many of the swimmers both in the Novice and State categories bringing home multiple Golds and a huge haul of medals. Sterling performers included young Masato Mark Fujimoto who won an unbelievable 9 Golds in the Novice Boys 10 yrs & under category. Angel Zhou also did a similar feat with 8 Golds in her category which is the Girls 11-12 yrs, with Anna Zhou winning 3 Golds in the same category. Dimas Ardhana Rumawas had 5 Golds to bring home and Rong Zhen Wong got a pair of Golds to celebrate. Siera Ko Ueda and Tyler Tseng Wei Jian had a Gold each to add to the medals tally.
Among the older Novice age groups, the star performers were Roxanne Soon Hui Nee, Shawn Pan Xiao Song, Jayden Wong Ken Ryu, Hayley Ng E Mun, Jayden Yap Ee Jen, Jaden Ong Jun Xian, Calvin Lee Shin Rong and Joanne Lew Zi Yan with more than 3 Golds each to bring home. Golds were also won by Sara Sophia Peeters, Aldreena Wong Chun Rei, Megan Wong, Emily Ong Ju Wern and Jun Hin Yap.
In the State swimmers section, the big winners were Evan Chua Min Hao leading the field with an astounding 10 Golds in the Boys 11-12 yrs age group, Jerriel Lau and Joelle Koo Yu Qing with 5 Golds each in their respective categories, Yan Chuan Lew with 4 Golds and Neelkantha Arjoo Segar with 3 Golds. Other great performers and Gold winners were Chang Shen Yoong, Kaelyn Chee Wei Yi, Cze Ern Chan, Ze Hou Liew, Jason Loh Jia Sheng and Charmaine Hung Yun Wen.
