DSAS Swimming Club open the year with great finish in Selangor


DSAS place as Runners Up in Selangor Age Group Meet

Selangor Age Group Swimming Championships 2023

The 32nd Selangor Age Group Swim Meet was held at Selangor Aquatic, Shah Alam, Selangor Darul Ehsan from 13-14 January 2023. Being the first Age Group Meet of the swimming calendar for the year, the competition between the swimming clubs across Malaysia was in the beginning stages. As always, the Meet was for participants under the State and Novice category separately with the Meet also being the qualifying event for Malaysia Open and Malaysia Invitational Age Group Meets.

DSAS Swimming Club had a total of 187 swimmers competing in the various events and finished as Runners Up in the Meet. Swimmers in both the Novice and State categories performed spectacularly.

The Overall Champions in the State category included Jiang Bo Xiu, Jerriel Lau and Ashley Soh Wern Yi who also created a new Meet Record in the 1500 Meter Freestyle.  Kaylee Koh Lee Shen, Neelkantha Arjoo Segar, Kaylee Wong and Liew Ze Hou were the Runners Up Champions in the State category. Joanne Lew Zi Yan and Shannon Tan Yan Qing emerged Overall Champion in the Novice category while the Runners Up Champions in the category included Shusuke Kobayashi, Pok Sin Yee and Kota Kobayashi.

Other Gold medal winners in the State category included Angel Zhou, Teh Tze Lin, Ng Yean Yu and Lim Shun Qi while brilliant performance by Evan Chua Min Hao with 8 Silvers was remarkable. Other podium finishers with Silvers and Bronzes included Lam Nuan En, Masato Mark Fujimoto, Miles Nathanael Yap, Joelle Koo Yu Qing, Kaelyn Chee Wei Yi, Xin Qi, Yoong Chang Lin, Megan Wong, Khaining Yeo, Hailey Chong Sue Huey, Charmaine Hung Yun Wen, Lee Tze-Le, Tan Zhi Jian, Jaden Ong Jun Xian, Calvin Lee Shin Rong and Yoong Chang Shen.

Gold winners in the Novice category included Heidi Lim Pei Xin with 4 Golds, Shawn Pan Xiao Song with 2 Golds and Abigail Yeoh Li Xian, Dimas Ardhana Rumawas, Ng Wen Hann, Jayden Yap Ee Jen and Chong Jun Ron with a Gold each among more Silvers and Bronzes. Other podium finishers included Sara Inagaki, Sunny Quan Shu Xian, Syazlin Naquiyah Shahasir, Marcus Wong Wai Shen, Yap Ke Hui, Chong Jun Jet, Tyler Tseng Wei Jian, Sara Sophia Peeters, Gabrielle M.P. Hills, Chong En Ci, Aiden Tan Yong Jia, Derek Lee Jia Heng, Aloysius Lee Zhen Hao, Ng Yean Hsu, Ng Jing Yang, Farah Niza Razali, Teoh Zhi Shan, Emir Danish and Ng Jing Yuen.

The Relay events too had a great finish for DSAS Swimming Club as they created 2 new Selangor State Records in the Girls 15-17 yrs Group and a new Meet Record in the Girls 11-12 yrs Group. Besides these, the Club also brought home 3 more Golds and a lot of Silvers from the Relay events. A detailed view of the Medal Tally can be downloaded from the links below.

It was a great start of 2023 for the DSAS Swimming Club being the first Meet for the Selangor team and the young swimmers felt elated with their great performance during the 3 days of stiff competitions. Kudos to the team of coaches, parents and well-wishers who all have done their best and will continue to do so as the Meets progress throughout the year.
