First Milo Age Group off to great start for the swimming year

DSA and DSAS mark a good presence in the club rankings at the Meet

First Milo Age Group

The First Milo Age Group Swimming Championship 2022 was held on the third weekend of the New Year, 14th to 16th of January. With the multiple lockdowns over the years, sports just as all other public activities were put on a back burner and it was not a small task to start the Swimming Calendar for the year. Swimmers and athletes all over the world were having a tough time getting back into the groove and peaking up for their schedules.

A total of 504 swimmers from 34 swimming clubs from all over Malaysia arrived at the National Aquatic Centre, KL Sports City on the invitation of the Persekutuan Renang Malaysia (Malaysia Swimming Federation) for a weekend of exhilarating events. DSA Swimming Club and DSAS Swim Club participated in this meet separately.

At the end of the Meet, with outstanding performances from all 67 swimmers, DSA Swimming Club ranked in 4th with a total of 33 medals. Remarkable performances included Chong Xin Lin with 4 Golds, Georgene Wee Ee Jern and Ng Yean Yu with 2 Golds each, Gabriel Francis McCartan and Ng Ze Heng with 1 Gold each, besides their many Silver and Bronze medals. A detailed medal tally is shown below.

Ng Yean Yu brought home 2 Golds for the DSAS Swim Club which participated with 14 swimmers and ranked 13th in the medal tally at the end of the 2 day Meet.

DSA appreciates the effort and support from all the swimmers and families and the difficulties all had been through in these difficult situations over the pandemic. A special word of appreciation also to the DSA coaches who were there with the swimmers providing the guidance and support needed. We look forward to getting back to normal soon and more participation and accolades in the Meets coming up in the swimming calendar for the year.
