DSA Swimmers finish First Runner Up at Selangor SC Meet
The 11th Selangor Short Course Sprint Invitational Swimming Championships 2024 was held on 08-10 November at Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsal in Shah Alam. The Championships are run in the World Aquatics Short-Course Metres (SCM) format and the events will be as Timed Finals of each age group. Both the DSA Swimming Clubs participated in the Meet with a total of 88 young swimmers joining the host of competitors vying for the top spots in the Championship.
DSA Swimming club finished as the First Runner Up of the Meet with a Meet Record in the Boys 11 & Under 4×25 SC Meter Freestyle Relay. The team performance was top-notch concluding the Meet with a total of 82 medals which included 20 Golds, 27 Sliver and 35 Bronzes.
In the State Swimmers Division, DSA’s champion swimmer was little Anna Maglai in the Girls 11 years old age group and under with the maximum points and winning the coveted Most Valuable Swimmer (Girls) Award. She took home an amazing 10 medals which included 1 Gold, 5 Slivers and 4 Bronzes in her events. In the Boys 19 years and over age group, Alexander Quinn C. Angeles took home the honour of the Most Valuable Swimmer (Boys) Award with a total of 4 medals which included 2 Silvers and 2 Bronzes.
Other blazing performers among the State Swimmers, included Adam Jeffrey Dillon in the Open category who won an astonishing 4 Golds, while Cham Yu Xiang took home 3 Golds in the Group 1 category. Elsa Eow Yeng Yii, Heidi Lim Pei Xin and Samuel Koek Gelacio also took home a Gold each for their wins in their respective groups. Other podium finishers in the State Swimmers division included Shusuke Kobayashi, Theadora Raeesa Joseph, Aiden Tan Yong Jia, Sara Sophia Peeters, Ng Yean Yu and Hyeonjoong Kil who all added many Silvers and Bronzes to the team tally.
In the Novice Swimmers Division, the top performers included Sean Yep Zhen Him and Javan Pun Jin Wen with 2 Golds and Malika Aminova with 1 Gold in their respective groups. Other podium finishers included Aiden Zarief, Kana Iwasaki, Ibrahim Mukhlis Bin Hadaffi Hanif, Lee Nahyun, Loh Eqin and Matthew Jacob Strydom who all brought home much appreciated points to the DSA Team total.
In the Relay events, the Boys in Group 4 (11 years and under) made their marks in the record books with the quartet of Joshua Tan Ker Jin, Lee Kenyi, Samuel Koek Gelacio and Shusuke Kobayashi giving a dazzling performance in the 4×25 SC Meter Relay. DSA had podium finishes in 6 other Relay events through the various groups making it a great performance overall by the swimmers.
