Multiple records at SUKMA 2024 by DSA swimmers


17 Golds, 7 Meet Records and 1 National Record at Pandelela Aquatic Centre

The Aquatics (swimming & diving) events of the 2024 SUKMA Games, officially known as the 21st SUKMA Games was held between 17-24 August at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre in Kuching, Sarawak. There were 21 swimmers from DSA who were representing their respective States at the Games for swimming events. After a fabulous display of talent and skill, the DSA swimmers won a total of 17 Golds.

Lim Shun Qi created history by being part of the quartet that created a National Record in the Mixed 4 X 100m Medley Relay event besides also being part of the Women’s 4 X 100m Freestyle Relay quartet which created a new Meet Record for the event. She took home a total of 5 Golds from the National Meet.

DSA Champion and favourite swimmer Chong Xin Lin added 4 more Golds to her state team’s tally while creating 2 Individual Meet Records for the Women’s 50m Backstroke and Women’s 100m Backstroke taking her place as the National Champ of the Backstroke event. She was also part of the Women’s 4 X 100m Medley Relay Team which created a new Meet Record in the event. Charlotte Loke was another member of the quartet for the same event adding her part in the record-breaking performance. Wong Shi Qi and Shannon Tan Yan Qing were the other Gold winners in their events among the Women’s events.

Among the Men’s events, Jayden Tan Khai Xin also created a new Individual Meet Record in the Men’s 400m Individual Medley, while being a part of the record creating quartet for the Men’s 4 X 100m Freestyle event. He also won the Gold for the Men’s 200m Individual Medley. Hii Puong Wei was the other individual Record maker for his dazzling swim in the Men’s 200m Backstroke, while also taking the Gold in the Men’s 100m Backstroke event.

Other podium finishers who were DSA swimmers representing their states included Georgene Wee Ee Jern, Megan Ho Wei Yan, Annis Hiew Xin Ting, Cham Yu Xiang and Joseph Chan Kai Xiang. A detailed view of the medal tally of the swimmers at this National Meet can be downloaded from the links below.
