Senior Boys and Girls win multiple Golds for State teams


DSA swimmers take home 33 Golds at MIAG Meet in Shah Alam

59th MIAG Swimming Championship 2024

The 59th Malaysia Invitational Age Group Swimming Championships this year was held at the Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsan (PADE) Pool in Shah Alam on 25-28 April 2024. 94 Swimmers from DSA Swimming Club representing their various states were part of this exhilarating Meet. Being an Invitational Meet besides the many states of Malaysia, the Meet also had the best swimmers from swimming clubs in India, Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Mongolia and Maldives.

In a dazzling display of swimming power, the swimmers from DSA gathered a total of 33 Golds, a majority of them by the senior boys and girls. Star performers included Wong Shi Qi who won a total of 4 Golds, Phee Jing En with 3 Golds and a new Meet Open & Closed Record in the 50 Meter Breaststroke event and Hii Puong Wei with 3 Golds and 5 Silvers who was also declared the ‘Most Valuable Swimmer’ of the Meet. Jayden Tan Khai Xin and Joseph Chan Kai Xiang also added 3 Golds each to their respective State teams tally. Georgene Wee Ee Jern with 2 Golds and Charlotte Loke with 1 Gold were the other top winners in the Over 19 years old category.

Chong Xin Lin added 3 Golds with 2 Closed Records in the Girls 16-18 years Girls category and Cham Yu Xiang too added 3 more Golds in the same age group Boys category. Gold winners in other age groups included Mellissa Nailly Darwin, Shannon Tan Yan Qing, Megan Ho, Neelkantha, Lewis Mu Zi Long and Samuel Koek Gelacio.

Other swimmers from DSA who made podium finishes included Lee Yen Yi, Jerriel Lau, Elsa Eow Yeng Yii, Ng Yean Yu, Sebastian Rion Azlir, Calvin Lee Shin Rong, Ryan Ee Tian Aymes, Annis Hiew Xin Ting, Angel Zhou, Joelle Koo Yu Qing, Kaelyn Chee Wei Yi, Evan Chua Min Hao, Vitus So Teng Hoe, Seungmin Woo, Qi Xin, Wang Junxi, Masato Mark Fujimoto, Hew Bo Yu, Olivia Seow Cui Ying, Evita Tan Ee Lin, Analey Yap Cai Li, Shusuke Kobayashi and Anna Maglai. It was a matter of immense pride for the swimmers and DSA in representing their state at the Meet and giving their best in such a high-level competition.
