The 11th Novice Swim Meet 2024 took place at Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsan in Shah Alam on December 7th and 8th. Designed to nurture budding talent, the meet provides an opportunity for novice swimmers—those who have not competed at the national level or earned individual medals in past State Age Group or Novice Meets—to gain valuable competition experience and build confidence.
DSA Swimming Club had 78 young swimmers, the majority aged 10 or younger trying out their swimming legs for the Meet. The event was an exciting milestone for these young athletes, introducing them to the thrill and camaraderie of competitive swimming.
The young swimmers brought home a total of 40 medals that weekend which included 15 Golds. One of the top stars was young Kyle Chan Kai Jie, just 6 years old who won a total of 7 medals and 4 of them being Gold, thereby winning the highest number of medals for the team. Braydon Ang in the 10 years old group won 4 Golds while Sarah Kwong Xin and John Park in the 12 years old group won 2 Golds each. Other Gold winners included Tee Boon Huan, Alynna Yong Zhang Ya, Aiden Zarief and Nik Nameera Nadine with a Gold each for their events.
Podium finishers with Silvers and Bronzes included Tan Ee Zheng, Haziq Rizqi, Brian Chin Ken Nee, Yam Ee Ren, (Elvis) Zhao Zi Ting and Zhu Yin Lai who all displayed their exceptional skills at such a young age, showing lots of promise for the coming years.
