Young Zhang blazes with 8 Golds at Novice Meet


9th Novice Swim Meet 2024

The 9th Novice Swim Meet 2024 was held at the Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsan, Shah Alam on the 8th and 9th June. The Novice Meets aim to give beginner swimmers a chance to compete and build self-confidence, encouraging their participation in future swimming competitions. Novice swimmers are defined as those who have never competed at the national level for their state or won individual medals in previous State Age Group Swimming Meets.

DSA Swimming Club had a total of 106 young swimmers in the foray, most of them first-timers and totally excited at their exposure of competitive swimming. At the end of the second day, the swimmers had collected a total of 26 medals which included 19 Golds. 8 of these were won by Zhang He Ning who set the pool blazing with her spectacular swimming performance. Natalie Rae Chiew Zhen Ee was the other superstar with her collection of 3 Golds while Kayden Chan Kai De, Shota Izawa and Max Lim Jia Jun won 2 Golds each in their events. Kana Iwasaki and Clifford Yeap Shun Long added 1 Gold each to the team tally while Zhu Yin Lai, Leon Zuehlke, Danielle Rae Chiew Wern Ee, Lai Jee Qi, Jong Qing Fung, Mia Lim Jia Yen, Lee Nahyun and Shahista Karleesha Shahmi were the others who had podium finishes in the 2-day Meet. MILO/PRAKL Age Group Swimming Championship 2024

The first Swim Meet of the year, the MILO/PRAKL Age Group Swimming Championships 2024 was held between 19-21 January at the National Aquatic Centre, Bukit Jalil. This Meet is one of the qualifying Meets to the MIAG, Malaysia Open Swimming Championships and the SUKMA Meet in Sarawak.

DSA Swimmers had a great time going head-to-head with the other swimming clubs from Malaysia and the competition was fierce. That did not deter the young swimmers as they notched up an amazing 14 new Meet Records and over 90 Golds during the three days of explosive action.

Standing out on top was DSA Swimming Champ Chong Xin Lin, who not only created a staggering 6 new Meet records but also took the Gold in every event she participated, a total of 9 Golds. Cham Yu Xiang also made his entry into the Record books for 2 events in his age group while Olivia Seow Cui Ying, Annis Hiew Xin Ting, Georgene Wee Ee Jern and Charlotte Loke also added a new Record each in their events. 2 more Meet Records came for DSA in the Relay events as the senior Boys quartet made a new benchmark in the 4×100 Meter Freestyle Group 1 + Open event while the junior girls added their names in the 4×100 Meter Medley Group 2 event Record.

Another Star of the Meet was little Anna Maglai, winning over 9 Golds in 10-11 years Girls’ category. This little champ is going to be another name to reckon with in the years to come for sure. Olivia Seow Cui Ying, Evita Tan Ee Lin and Woo Seungmin won 7 Golds each in their events along with more Silvers and Bronzes. Megan Ho won 6 Golds in her events while Yui Hirano and Henri James Johan Keeton added 5 Golds to the team tally. Annis Hiew Xin Ting, Lewis Mu Zi Long and Ong Zhi Kheam with 3 Golds, Vitus So Teng Hoe and Cayden How Xuan Hee brought home 2 Golds each. Analey Yap Cai Li, Cham Yu Yang, Fu Yi Zhuo, Cham Yu Xiang and Elsa Eow Yeng Yii won a Gold in their events.

Among the seniors, long time champion swimmer Georgene Wee Ee Jern and Gabriel Francis McCartan won 6 Golds each in their categories. Charlotte Loke added 3 more Golds while Malaysian star swimmer Jayden Tan Khai Xin won 2 Golds in his events. Shahenry Wong Bin Shadzlee was another winner with 1 Gold in the senior boys age group.

Other medal winners in Meet included Lee Yun Ni, Zhang He Ning, Tee Him, Carrie Li Jia Yi, Teoh Jet Ning, Lai In Xuan, Jung Jiwoo, Ho Zhi Ju, Verda So Teng Gaa, Grace Ge Zi Xin, Cham Yu Yang, Wang Jun Xi, Mellissa Nailly Darwin, Yap Inn Xuan, Sebastien Rion Azlir, Grace Kim Ju Won, Kierstan Khoo Wei Ee, Celyn Pan Xiao Ying, Lau Jin Kiat, Jordan Chan Kin Yue and Charlene Loke.

Young DSA girls shine with Megan on top at Shah Alam


DSA Swimming clubs secure over 40 individual medals at Short Course Meet

10th Selangor Short Course Sprint Invitational Swimming Championship 2023

The young swimmers from both DSA Swimming Clubs (DSA & DSAS)  had a great time at the 10th Selangor Short Course Sprint Invitational Swimming Championships held on 17-19 November at Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsan, Shah Alam.  The Meet is a qualifying meet for the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games 2024 for Malaysian swimmers.

DSA having a multi-location club participated both as DSA and DSAS as required by the Meet rules and gave a sterling performance bringing home a host of medals which included 13 individual Golds.

Superstars of the Meet included Megan Ho who won an astounding 7 Golds in her events in the Girls 12-13 years age group. She also won the title of Overall Champion of her age group. Yu Xiang Cham with 3 Golds in the Boys 16-18 years group won 3 Golds in his events while Zhi Ju Ho, Neelkantha Arjoo Segar and Zahara Ewa AlJoffery took home a Gold in their respective age groups.

Other medal winners included Ke Hui Yap, Charmaine Hung Yun Wen, Adam Jeffrey Dillon, Joanne Lew Zi Yan, Evan Chua Min Hao, Yean Yu Ng, Alexander Quinn C. Angeles and Hannah Khoo Zhi Ning who all added many more Silvers and Bronzes to the team tally.

In the Relay events, the young Girls from DSA notched up 2 Golds for the Freestyle and Medley Relays while the DSAS Girls also won 2 Silvers in their events. Besides these, other swimmers also won a host of Silvers and Bronzes giving both the DSA and DSAS a shining total at the end of the 3-day Meet. It was a great victory for both the Clubs and swimmers as they prepare in earnest for the upcoming grand meet, the President Cup scheduled in the next month. All eyes will be on the talented and dedicated team of swimmers, parents and coaches as the year draws to an end and we wish the swimmers and clubs the best for the competitive days ahead. DSA retains SportExcel Championship third time in a row


Swimming Club grabs top honours with a Meet Record, 3 Overall Champions and Most Qualifiers

SPORTEXCEL/MILO/NSC/MAS Junior Swimming Circuit – Grand Final 2023

DSA Swimming Club firmly restated their position as the Best Swimming Club in Malaysia with the third consecutive win at the SportExcel/Milo/NSC/MAS Junior Swimming Circuit, Grand Final 2023 held at the National Aquatic Centre Bukit Jalil on 14-15 October. The two-day swimming championship which was the concluding part of 3 leg series for young swimmers drew participation from 35 swimming clubs all over Malaysia. A total of 289 talented and enthusiastic swimmers converged at the National Aquatic Centre during the weekend to fight to the top.

Retaining their coveted position DSA Swimming Club took the honours as Overall Champions with a total of 280 points on the board, the Club also added a new Meet Record to the books. Megan Ho not only won the Group 3 Girls Overall Champion title but also created a new Record in the 50 Meter Butterfly event and 2 more Golds in other events. Ho Zhi Ju was declared Group 4 Boys Overall Champion with 2 Golds and a Bronze while Neelkantha Arjoo Segar won the title of Group 3 Boys Overall Champion with 2 Golds and a Silver.

Besides the individual Champions, splendid performance by Olivia Seow Cui Ying fetched her 2 Golds, while Yap Inn Xuan, Pok Sin Yee, Kaylee Koh Lee Shen, Yap Ke Hui, Mellissa Nailly Darwin, Kaylee Wong, Jaydrien Ng Shen Khang and Sebastien Rion Azlir added more Silvers and Bronzes to the team tally. Records galore for DSA Swimming Club at Senior Meet

SPORTEXCEL/MILO/NSC/MAS Junior Swimming Circuit – Grand Final 2023

Held on the same dates at the same venue, the second MAS Senior Invitational Swim Meet saw the participation of over 150 swimmers from 15 swimming clubs competing for the honours. Initiated to create an advancement platform for swimmers aged 15 years and above, this was only the second year of the Meet. DSA Swimming Club had a total of 54 swimmers participating and took the Runners Up title.

It was records galore for the Club as DSA Swimmer Hii Puong Wei made new Records in every event he participated. Puong Wei made a total of 9 new Meet Records wining 9 Golds and a Silver. Cham Yu Xiang added 2 more Meet Records to his name, while Georgene Wee Ee Jern, Gabriel Francis McCartan, Charlotte Loke and Charlene Loke added a new Record each to their names in the Record books. Ng Yean Yu added one more Gold to the team tally while Shermann Choong Li Sheng, Shahenry Wong Bin Shadzlee and Calvin Lee Shin Rong had podium finishes for their events. It was a very busy weekend for the swimmers and the club with 2 Meets being held simultaneously, and a big shoutout goes to the swimmers, parents and specially the DSA coaches who have been working non-stop behind the scenes pushing their swimmers to greater achievements. As the swimming calendar for the year is onto its end stages, the time is set for the grand finale coming up in the next couple of months.
