DSA Swimming Club finish the year with First Runner Up spot
3 Meet Records and 21 Golds for DSA at 41st President Cup Meet
Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsan (PADE), Shah Alam was the location for the 41st National Inter-Club Swimming Championships for the President’s Cup held on December 20-22, the last event of the Malaysian Swimming Calendar for 2024. As always being the most awaited inter-club Meet of the year, excitement ruled high for the 3 days as swimmers of all clubs and schools gave it their best.
DSA Swimming Clubs participated in the Meet with a large team of 220 swimmers across the 4 Groups and made a brilliant display of athleticism and swimming prowess finishing at the First Runner Up position. The Clubs had rewritten 3 new Meet Records and secured 21 Golds with a total of 74 medals.
Wong Shi Qi created a new Meet Record in the Girls 19 & Over 100 LC Meter Freestyle event and also won the Most Valuable Swimmer Award for Female Open Age Group while Hyeonjoong Kil added his name to the record books in the Boys 16-18 100 LC Meter Freestyle event. The third Meet Record came from the quartet of Dylan Ong Guan Khye, Elsa Eow Yeng Yii, Louise Lee and Yap Yong Jie in the Mixed 16-18 4×50 LC Meter Freestyle Relay event.
Seungmin Woo from Group 2 was outstanding at his events collecting a total of 5 Golds and also taking the title of the Most Valuable Swimmer Award for Male Group 2. Other stars were Joseph Chan Kai Xiang, Wong Shi Qi, Hyeonjoong Kil won 2 Golds each with their brilliant performance. Evan Chua Min Hao, Georgene Wee Ee Jern and Charlotte Loke took home a Gold each for their events. Other top finishers included Shermann Choong Li Sheng, Jeff Chua Yu Yang, Finlay Palmer Kay, Elsa Eow Yeng Yii, Mellissa Nailly Darwin, Yap Ke Hui, Masato Mark Fujimoto, Olivia Seow Cui Ying, Evita Tan Ee Lin and Sean Yep Zhen Him who all contributed to the finally team tally with their inspired performances. The Relay events also saw some great performances and plenty of medals apart from the record-breaking win. As the President Cup Meet concludes, the swimmers, parents, and coaches can finally enjoy a well-deserved break as they transition into the holiday season and wrap up another year of swimming. This year was packed with over 18 Meets and training sessions that kept the swimmers in peak condition. The unwavering dedication of the DSA coaches has been truly remarkable throughout this demanding yet rewarding journey.
Looking ahead, the 2025 swimming calendar kicks off with the Selangor Age Group, AKL Age Group, and Johor Age Group Meets, all set for the near end of January. These events also serve as key qualifying Meets for the MIAG and Malaysia Open. The entire team of swimmers and coaches is gearing up for the challenges ahead, and they’ll need all the support they can get. DSA’s young star swimmers dazzle at Novice Meet
The 11th Novice Swim Meet 2024 took place at Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsan in Shah Alam on December 7th and 8th. Designed to nurture budding talent, the meet provides an opportunity for novice swimmers—those who have not competed at the national level or earned individual medals in past State Age Group or Novice Meets—to gain valuable competition experience and build confidence.
DSA Swimming Club had 78 young swimmers, the majority aged 10 or younger trying out their swimming legs for the Meet. The event was an exciting milestone for these young athletes, introducing them to the thrill and camaraderie of competitive swimming.
The young swimmers brought home a total of 40 medals that weekend which included 15 Golds. One of the top stars was young Kyle Chan Kai Jie, just 6 years old who won a total of 7 medals and 4 of them being Gold, thereby winning the highest number of medals for the team. Braydon Ang in the 10 years old group won 4 Golds while Sarah Kwong Xin and John Park in the 12 years old group won 2 Golds each. Other Gold winners included Tee Boon Huan, Alynna Yong Zhang Ya, Aiden Zarief and Nik Nameera Nadine with a Gold each for their events.
Podium finishers with Silvers and Bronzes included Tan Ee Zheng, Haziq Rizqi, Brian Chin Ken Nee, Yam Ee Ren, (Elvis) Zhao Zi Ting and Zhu Yin Lai who all displayed their exceptional skills at such a young age, showing lots of promise for the coming years. Jayden wins big at Splash Meet in Kedah
The second leg of the MAS/NSC/MILO Splash Swim Series 2024 was held at Pusat Akuatik Negeri Kedah on 22 and 23 November. 21 Swimmers from DSA and DSAS Swimming Clubs travelled to Alor Setar, Capital of the state of Kedah for the Meet. The Meet was conducted and hosted by the Kedah Swimming Association. 482 Swimmers from 45 Swimming Clubs all over Malaysia participated in the Meet which had intense competition for the top spots.
DSA and DSAS Swimming Clubs won a total of 18 Medals which included 7 Golds by Jayden Yap Ee Jen who displayed some dazzling skills to bring home the Gold in all his events. Li Wanyu (Grace) and Chong Jia Ying brought home medals with new Meet Record timings though they could not get the top spots in their events. Other podium finishers included Lee Chi Ning, Chew Juno and Aiman Moosa Rasheed who all added their contributions to the team tally. We have had the privilege of watching you grow and develop from a young swimmer in the DSA Learn to Swim Program at the age of 7 starting in DSA R1 level, graduating to the DSA Mini Squad, progressing from DSA Squad Group D to A, and ultimately becoming a proud member of the national team.
Your journey with us has been truly inspiring. From your unwavering dedication in training to the countless milestones you’ve achieved, you’ve set a shining example of what hard work, perseverance, and passion can accomplish. Your growth as an athlete has been remarkable, and we are incredibly proud of everything you’ve achieved.

Meet Record for young DSA Relay Swimmers
DSA Swimmers finish First Runner Up at Selangor SC Meet
The 11th Selangor Short Course Sprint Invitational Swimming Championships 2024 was held on 08-10 November at Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsal in Shah Alam. The Championships are run in the World Aquatics Short-Course Metres (SCM) format and the events will be as Timed Finals of each age group. Both the DSA Swimming Clubs participated in the Meet with a total of 88 young swimmers joining the host of competitors vying for the top spots in the Championship.
DSA Swimming club finished as the First Runner Up of the Meet with a Meet Record in the Boys 11 & Under 4×25 SC Meter Freestyle Relay. The team performance was top-notch concluding the Meet with a total of 82 medals which included 20 Golds, 27 Sliver and 35 Bronzes.
In the State Swimmers Division, DSA’s champion swimmer was little Anna Maglai in the Girls 11 years old age group and under with the maximum points and winning the coveted Most Valuable Swimmer (Girls) Award. She took home an amazing 10 medals which included 1 Gold, 5 Slivers and 4 Bronzes in her events. In the Boys 19 years and over age group, Alexander Quinn C. Angeles took home the honour of the Most Valuable Swimmer (Boys) Award with a total of 4 medals which included 2 Silvers and 2 Bronzes.
Other blazing performers among the State Swimmers, included Adam Jeffrey Dillon in the Open category who won an astonishing 4 Golds, while Cham Yu Xiang took home 3 Golds in the Group 1 category. Elsa Eow Yeng Yii, Heidi Lim Pei Xin and Samuel Koek Gelacio also took home a Gold each for their wins in their respective groups. Other podium finishers in the State Swimmers division included Shusuke Kobayashi, Theadora Raeesa Joseph, Aiden Tan Yong Jia, Sara Sophia Peeters, Ng Yean Yu and Hyeonjoong Kil who all added many Silvers and Bronzes to the team tally.
In the Novice Swimmers Division, the top performers included Sean Yep Zhen Him and Javan Pun Jin Wen with 2 Golds and Malika Aminova with 1 Gold in their respective groups. Other podium finishers included Aiden Zarief, Kana Iwasaki, Ibrahim Mukhlis Bin Hadaffi Hanif, Lee Nahyun, Loh Eqin and Matthew Jacob Strydom who all brought home much appreciated points to the DSA Team total.
In the Relay events, the Boys in Group 4 (11 years and under) made their marks in the record books with the quartet of Joshua Tan Ker Jin, Lee Kenyi, Samuel Koek Gelacio and Shusuke Kobayashi giving a dazzling performance in the 4×25 SC Meter Relay. DSA had podium finishes in 6 other Relay events through the various groups making it a great performance overall by the swimmers.
