DSA revels Double Championships at SportExcel & MAS Senior Swim Meets
The National Aquatic Centre, Bukit Jalil was a hubbub of activity during the last weekend being the venue for 2 Swim Meets held on the same dates, SportExcel/Milo/NSC/MAS Junior Swimming Circuit, Grand Final 2022 and MAS Senior Invitational Swim Meet 2022. DSA Swimming Club firmly established its position as the Best Swimming Club by securing the Top Spot in both the Meets, continuing its blazing streak of Championship Wins this year.
Having already won the top spot in both Leg 1 and Leg 2 of the SportExcel/Milo/NSC/MAS Junior Swimming Circuit, DSA was in prime position to win the honours for the Grand Final. With a team of 56 young swimmers qualifying, DSA also won the Most Qualifiers Award for the Meet in addition to becoming the Overall Champion after two days of dazzling performances that included two Age Group Champions, four Runners-Up and a host of medals.
Chong Xin Lin was crowned Age Group Champion in the Girls 13-14 years group with a new Meet record and 4 Golds while Olivia Seow Cui Ying was the Age Group Champion in the Girls 10 & under group with 4 Golds. First Runners-Up included Ho Zhi Ju (Boys 10 & under) with 2 Golds, Sophie Chan Yi Lin (Girls 10 & under) with 2 Golds and Evan Chua Min Hao (Boys 11-12) with 2 Golds. Elsa Eow Yeng Yii was the Second Runner up in the Girls 13-14 years group with 2 Golds.
Other medal winners included Evita Tan Ee Lin, Sebastien Rion Azlir with 1 Gold each; Ong Zhi Kheam, Annis Hiew Xin Ting and Heidi Chong Zi Xin with 1 Sliver each while Wong Rong Zhen, Kaelyn Chee Wei Yi and Hayley Cassandra Yap Hay Ee added a Bronze each to the team tally. The MAS Senior Invitational Swim Meet was initiated to create an advancement platform for swimmers aged 15 years and above. Being the first edition of the Meet, all the Gold medal winners of the various events will become the deemed record holders of the respective events. The Meet was held at the same venue and simultaneously with the SportExcel Grand Final. DSA Swimming Club had a team of 60 swimmers participating and after a gruelling 2 days of competing, stood first as the Overall Champions of the Meet.
Outstanding performances included a sparkling 4 Golds by Chris Chew Vi Min in the Men 15-17 age group and 2 Golds by Koh Teck Chen in the Men 18-25 age group. Other Gold winners included Cham Yu Xiang, Lee Tze-Le, Anne Cecilie Nygaard and Georgene Wee Ee Jern in their respective groups. Yap Yong Jie, Teh Tze Lin, Yeo Khaining, Adam Bin Abdul Karim, Wong Jun Cheng and Ng Jia Yi added Silvers while Ng Yean Yu, Atticus Ng E Hin, Noah Zameer Lee and Adam Jeffrey Dillon added Bronzes to bring DSA Swimming Club medal tally to top of the board. DSA Swimming Club has been outstanding in their track record for the year winning the top spot in almost all the Meets which has been only due to the continuous dedication of the swimmers, parents and coaches in spite of the difficulties due to the pandemic the last year. With the momentum going, the swimmers are looking their best for the biggest Meet of the year, the President Cup coming up in December. It will be a Meet to watch out for, with all the clubs vying for holding that trophy aloft. Until then, All the best DSA, One Team, One Dream!
