DSAP swimmers make a good run at PISC Meet

The 3rd Penang Invitational Swimming Championships (PISC) 2025 was held on 20-22 June at the Relau Sports Complex, Relau Penang. 27 swimmers from DSA Swimming Club Penang participated in the weekend Meet. The swimmers won a total of 22 medals for their events which included 1 Gold, 11 Silvers and 10 Bronzes. Hoo Jean Yee from Group 2 took the Gold in the 200 Meter Backstroke event while Garrel Lee Xuan, Gabriel Lee Jin, Ronan Cheong Hao Jin, Goh Hao Wei, Lim Eu Ning and Ngin Jia Yik got home Slivers and Bronzes for their individual wins. 14 Meet Records at Splash Meet by DSA Swimmers


MAS/NSC/MILO Splash Swim Series Leg 1, 2025

The aim of the MAS / NSC / MILO Splash Swim Series is to provide suitable avenues of competition to develop and retain the second and third layers of swimming talent nationwide from the grassroots development level. The Splash Swim Series will consist of 2 Legs held simultaneously in 3 Regions – Central, Northern and East Malaysia. The Northern Region includes Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Terengganu, Kelantan, Pahang; the Central Region will be Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Johor and Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan will constitute the region under East Malaysia.

The Splash Swim Series is open to Swimmers local or foreign, who are existing members of any club or school registered in Malaysia and affiliated to their respective States or MAS, and any Sekolah Sukan Malaysia and who meet the Time Standards required for a particular event. Swimmers whose recorded personal best time for the event falls within the Minimum and Maximum times specified for qualification will also be eligible to participate.

The first Leg of the Swim Series for 2025 was held on 13-15 June at Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsan, Shah Alam. A total of 187 swimmers from the swimming clubs in the Central Region which included the DSA, DSAS and DSAJ Swimming Clubs participated in the Meet. The 3-day Meet concluded with DSA Swimming Clubs winning 20 Golds with 14 new Meet Records and a total of 53 medals.

Among the many blazing stars of DSA Swimmers with spell-binding performances, Tai Sze Wei from Group 3 and Jiwoo Jung from Group 2 clinched glory with an amazing 3 Golds and 2 Meet Records. Young Yui Hirano in Group 4 shone brightly with 3 new Meet Records and Lee Chi Ning with 2 new Meet Records had a Gold each among their many medals to take home.  Others with new Meet Records included Amelia Koek Gelacio, Gerald Ho, Ava Loong Yue, Hiew Lik Yang and Lee Nahyun.

Amanda Koek Gelacio added 3 Golds to the team total while Chong Jia Ying won 2 Golds in her events. Marvyn Teoh Min Wei and Javan Pun Jin Wen brought home a Gold each for their events while a host of others made it to the top 3 in their events for a pavilion finish. This included Angus Lim, Athan Lim, Aydan Chew Hwe Zhe, Isaac Chen Yen-Bo, Nigel Lee Tzi Yue, Ong Zi Yi, Kristen Leong, Aryan Caleb Nair and Leong Joe Yip. DSA novices set records at maiden Meet


31 Meet Records at Karnival Meet in Bukit Jalil

The first AKL-MSWP Swimming Talent Carnival (Karnival Bakat Sukan Renang AKL-MSWP 2025) was held on the 31st May and 1st June, 2025 at the National Aquatic Centre, Bukit Jalil. As with the Novice Meets, the aim of this new Swimming Carnival is to encourage swimming for young children and to identify new talents at the junior levels in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan areas.

The Meet is specifically meant for Malaysians who are novice or non-state swimmers from registered affiliates and swimming clubs and have not advanced in any of the major inter-club Swim Meets in the preceding years. The Meet also served as the qualifying Meet for the selection of swimmers for the National swimming series of Karnival Bakat Kebangsaan (KBK) to be organized by Majlis Sukan Negara in 2025.

A total of 104 swimmers from DSA Swimming Club, Kuala Lumpur participated in the 2-day Meet at Bukit Jalil. It was a great weekend for the swimmers to be participating in a Swim Meet at their home location and they won a total of 90 medals which included 30 Golds and established 31 Meet Records.

The Gold medallists and record creators included Damien Cheong Min Zhe and Wong Kyzie from Group 3 who topped the count with 5 Golds and Meet records. Danielle Rae Chiew Wern Ee from Group 4 won 4 Golds with new records. Christina Isabelle Fernandiz, Ooi Jee Kay, Aryan Caleb Nair, Nik Nameera Nadine Binti Nik M Farid and Aleeya Rose binti Norazri added 2 Golds and 2 new records each for the team while Marisa Lim Yi Ting, Tan Wei Xuan, Dylan Ngoi Win Yit, Matthew Chin Zi Shen, Dexter Kam Yuan Zi, Victoria Jun-Lin Tan and Yam Ee Ren brought home a Gold and a new record each to their names.

The other swimmers who ended the weekend with podium finishes included Lee Jun Ming, Asyrafiq Ahmad Rozi, Shahista Karleesha binti Shahmi Saifuddin, Ahmad Halfy, Chang Ji Syuen, Joey Chee Zhia Xuan, Shawn Boey Wei Xiang, Tan Wei Ni, Skyler Yap Zhe Yu, Muhd Aref Rafiq Mohd Huzaidi, Yam Ee Ren and Tang Zi Qian (Violet).

Swimming Club make huge haul at SportExcel Circuit Leg 1 Meet

The SportExcel / Milo / NSC / MAS Swimming Circuit is designed to offer additional competitive opportunities to nurture and develop swimming talent across Malaysia, with the goal of achieving success at both national and international levels. Participation in the SportExcel Circuit is limited to swimmers whose personal best times meet or exceed the Minimum Time Standards set for each event.

The Circuit comprises two preliminary legs conducted simultaneously across three regions—Central, Northern, and East Malaysia—followed by a Grand Final. The Northern Region consisted of Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Terengganu, Kelantan, Pahang. The Central Region included Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Johor and East Malaysia covered Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan areas.

As with the previous year, only Malaysian swimmers are eligible to receive medals and podium incentives for the Top 3 placements. Foreign swimmers may participate and earn points to qualify for the Grand Final, but are not eligible for podium rewards.

DSA, DSAS and DSAJ Swimming Clubs participated in the Meet for the Central Region which was held at Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsan, Shah Alam on the 16th-18th of May. The combined swimmers from DSA stood at 209 and after 3 days of intense competitive swimming, the swimmers brought home a total of 134 medals which included 50 Golds, besides having created a breath-taking 7 Meet Records.

The trail blazing record breakers included Cham Yu Xiang who won 4 Golds with 3 Meet Records and Wong Shi Qi with 2 Golds and 2 Meet Records, both of whom were in the Open Swimmers category. Olivia Seow Cui Ying who won 2 Golds created a new Record in Group 2 category while Kayler Ngan Kang Yi with 3 Golds was the other record breaker in the Group 3 category.

Other stars who contributed to the huge 50 Golds collection included Noah Abdul Rizal in Group 3 with a staggering 7 Golds in his events, Keira Lee Shwen in Group 4 with 6 Golds, Anabelle Kong Shu Li in Group 2 also with 6 Golds, Evan Chua Min Hao in Group 1 with 4 Golds, Evita Tan Ee Lin from Group 2 and Alysha Aryana Mohd Khairul in Group 4 with 3 Golds each. Besides these Ethan Chua Min Han, Aydan Chew Hwe Zhe, Bo Yu Hew, Lee E-An, Ong Zhi Kheam, Lee Chi Ning, Zhi Ju Ho, Liew Yu Shan and Owen Chan Kai Wen all added a Gold each to the team tally.

Other podium finishers with their excellent performances included Joseph Chan Kai Xiang, Cham Yu Yang, Ethan Eng Yeung Zjung, Jamie Chee Zhia Xin, Isaac Chen Yen-Bo, Muhamad Akash Rifqi, Jamie Koh Jun Ming, Clifford Yeap Shun Long, Isaac Lee Ming, Wah Hao Ran, Foo Qi Wei, Raeka Ong, Alynna Yong Zhang Ya, Natalie Rae Chiew Zhen Ee, Sasha Caunter Chin Liyen, Daniella Lian Yue Yan, Lee Xin Tung, Henri James Johan Keeton, Zuhayra Adn Zulkifli, Cassandra Wong Zi En and Lisa Katherina Siemers. Medals for DSA Penang at Ipoh Meet

DSA Swimming Club also participated in the Meet for the Northern Region which was held at Pusat Akuatik Tuanku Zara, Ipoh, Perak on the 16th-18th of May. 13 swimmers from DSA Penang participated in the Meet which is the first time for all of them to participate in a national level inter-club Meet. The swimmers brought home 11 medals which included 1 Gold won by Ronan Cheong Hao Jin from Group 1. Other medal winners included Hoo Jean Yee, Gareth Goh and Goh Hao Wei. Young swimmers finish second Novice Meet of the year with 15 Golds


13th Novice Swim Meet 2025

The 13th Novice Swim Meet, being the second for the year 2025 was held at the Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsan, Shah Alam on the 3rd and 4th of May. The Novice Meets aim to give beginner swimmers a chance to compete and build self-confidence, encouraging their participation in future swimming competitions. Novice swimmers are defined as those who have never competed at the national level for their state or won individual medals in previous State Age Group Swimming Meets.

DSA Swimming Club participated in the Meet with a large group of 118 swimmers, most of whom were freshly trying out their competitive swimming skills. It is a great experience for these youngsters to participate in these Meets and get a feel of the tight schedules, arrangements and the discipline needed to be a part of these inter Club Meets.

After two days of tightly contested events, the swimmers brought home a total of 55 medals which included 15 Golds. The big winners of the Meet included Olyvia Magdalene Foley who was a champ in the 14 years old Girls group blazing her way to a spectacular 8 Gold haul, a Gold in every event she participated in. This teenager will be a name to reckon with in the future for sure.  Another superstar at the Meet was little Kayden Chan Kai De in the Boys 9 years old group who impressed everyone with a 4 Gold haul to take home. Other Gold winners included Rafeal Matthew Seah, Raeka Mary Seah and Danielle Rae Chiew Wern Ee.

Other podium finishers in the team included Koh Tzi Kai, Ahmad Halfy, Syazlin Naquiyah Shahasir, Victoria Jun-Lin Tan, Caleb Chong Ze Min, Yam Ee Ren, Nik Nameera Nadine Nik Mohd, Ashley Huang and Aryan Arjuna Mohd Khairul Azli.
