DSA continues creditable performance with another runners-up position

Swimmers have yet another Meet to add to their swimming calendar and that means another opportunity to experience the competitive edge, and this time; add in heaps of endurance; for this is a first. The 1st ASUM/ NSC/ MILO Mid & Long Distance Swimming Championship was held at the Bandar Tun Razak Pool, Cheras on 16-17 September to start what could be a regular long distance swim Meet in the years to come.

More than 200 swimmers from 22 swimming clubs participated in the Meet, the first time a meet specifically for distances from 200m to 1500m was being added to the swimming calendar. Temperatures saw some highs and lows and the meet started off with some downpour, only to sizzle up in late noon as the mercury shot up to 32 degrees.

Performances were superb as DSA Swimming Club notched up another good win, rallying into Runners-up position overall with 769 points. Top performances by Misa and Yumi Okuzono along with young Yap Yong Jie saw them leading the total points to collect the Best Boy and Best Girls award. Georgene Wee, Lee Jia Jing and Sean Goh were the others in 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions for the awards in their age groups. Other medal winners included Wong Yu Xuan,Wesley Kam, Chung Ze Xuan, Chong Kar Hian, Chong Hiong Kiet, Chong Yong Wai and Rupert Tan. The Relay teams provided additional medals with 3 Golds and 2 Silvers from the various groups. The mixed relay also had winners for DSA as they brought in another Gold and Silver.
