DSA contributes a massive 20 Gold, 7 New Records to Kuala Lumpur Team to end Championship drought
DSA swimmers made significant contribution to the Kuala Lumpur Team with over 7 New Records and 20 Gold at the 53rd MILO/PRAM Malaysia Invitational Age Group Swimming Championships held at Pusat Akuatik Hang Jebat, Melaka. It was an astounding performance by the young DSA swimmers as they won event after event, making up half the Kuala Lumpur team’s tally of 40 Gold to make it the Champion at the Meet. This was even more special as the Kuala Lumpur team ended a Championship drought over the last one decade with this win.
The big contributors to the Medal tally and the amazing new records included young Misa Okuzono, who has been unbeatable in the last few Meets, with an amazing 9 Gold of which 5 were new records. This little girl is truly an Olympic champion in the making. Yap Yong Jie, another young sensation won 6 Gold with 2 new records, while Darren Lew Chen Jet won 5 Gold and just narrowly missed out on a new record. Other medals winners were Yumi Okuzono and Koh Tech Chen with 2 Silver each, Chong Hiong Kiet with 1 Silver, Dian Isandra Bt Johan with 1 Silver and 1 Bronze and Wesley Kam with 2 Bronze. 4 New records were also made by the Relay Teams which included the DSA swimmers who contributed to the Kuala Lumpur’s collection of 4 Gold with new records at the Relay events. Besides the medal winners, the DSA swimmers also notched up the PBs and did their best for the remarkable and significant, history making win at the Championship.
Hearty Congratulations goes to the all the swimmers of the Kuala Lumpur team for their exemplary performance and fighting hard to get the Championship this year. They have literally doubled their Gold medal haul from last year, which is a fitting reward for their tireless efforts and also for the support of team managers, coaches, support teams and everyone else who played a part in the great performance.
