DSA Swimming Club hits Top Spot yet again
DSA Swimming Club Overall Champions at SportExcel Meet
Following their great streak of exemplary performance this year, DSA Swimming Club grabbed the top honours at the recently concluded SportExcel Second Leg Meet held on 25-26 June 2022 at Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsan, Shah Alam.
After gaining the top spot in Leg 1 of the Circuit, the Club went in with a team of 170 swimmers for the second leg, brimming with enthusiasm from coming out winners in a previous swim Meet. The young swimmers of the club did exceptionally well, totaling 19 Golds and re-writing one Meet record into the books in their big win.
The new generation of upcoming swimmers in the 10 years and under age group were the ones to watch out for, with Sophie Chan Yi Lin winning 3 Golds in her events. Ho Zhi Ju won 2 more Golds for the team while Evita Tan Ee Lin added 1 Gold. Ong Zhi Kheam also did well and added a Silver medal to the team tally.
Outstanding performance from older swimmers included a spectacular 7 Golds for Chong Xin Lin which included a Meet Record in the Girls 13-14 50 LC Meter Backstroke event. Evan Chua Min Hao brought home 6 Golds in his events. Other podium finishers included Megan Ho with 3 Silvers, Elsa Eow Yeng Yii and Lew Yan Chuan with 2 Silvers each; Vitus So Teng Hoe, Kaelyn Chee Wei Yi, Jaden Ong Jun Xian with a Silver each. Wong Rong Zhen, Elizabeth Chan Yiwen, Ng Ze Heng and Liew Ze Hou added a Bronze each to bring the team to the top spot as the Overall Champions. 2 Meet Records at MIAG by DSA Swimmers
The 57th Milo/MAS/NSC Malaysia Invitational Age Group Meet 2022 was held during the first weekend of June at the National Aquatic Centre, Bukit Jalil. 81 swimmers from DSA Swim Team participated in the Meet representing Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Terengganu.
There was a huge haul of medals by the swimmers with 2 Meet records also rewritten. Jayden Tan Khai Xin created new records in the 200 & 400 Meter Individual Medley while adding 7 Golds to his individual collection from the Meet. Other big winners were Sophie Chan Yilin with 5 Golds, Lim Shun Qi and Evan Chua Min Hao with 2 Golds, Georgene Wee Ee Jern, Mellissa Nailly Darwin and Elsa Eow Yeng Yii with 1 Gold each. Many other swimmers like Grace Kim Ju Won, Jerriel Lau, Yao Inn She, Anne Cecille Nygaard, Ella Robertson Brewer added more Silvers and Bronzes to their wins.
In the younger group of 10 years and under, the upcoming champions included Sophie Chan Yilin with 5 Golds, Masato Mark Fujimoto, Olivia Seow Cui Ying and Ho Zhi Ju with 2 Golds each, Ong Zhi Kheam with 1 Gold, Miles Nathanael Yap and Evita Tan Ee Lin with more Silvers and Bronzes to the tally.

DSA wins Overall with huge margin
DSA Swimming Club clinches Top Spot at Junior Splash 2022, Leg 1
In a record of sorts, the DSA Swimming Team came out Overall Champions with overwhelming points at the MAS/Milo/NSC Junior Splash Swim 2022, Leg 1 held on May 14th to 16th at the National Aquatic Centre, Bukit Jalil. DSA Swimmers beat the competition by a huge margin with a total of 1344 points, which was a remarkable achievement for the Swimming Club.
Held after a gap of 2 years, the first Leg of the Meet had a total of 43 Swimming Clubs and over 1100 young swimmers from all over Malaysia in participation. DSA had a strong contingent of 253 youngsters giving their best, a new generation of champions seeking to make their mark. Moving up from the Runner-up position in 2019, the Club won a total of 27 Golds with 2 new Meet Records. Besides this, the DSA Swimming Club Relay teams also brought home 15 Golds and established a new Meet Record.
The massive haul of points by the Club was led by Evan Chua Min Hao who was outstanding with 8 Golds and a new Meet Record in the 200M Freestyle event. Mellissa Nailly Darwin who also made a new Meet Record in the 50M Breaststroke added 2 more Golds to the tally. Masato Mark Fujimoto with 4 Golds and Olivia Seow Cui Ying with 3 Golds also displayed remarkable talent and skill in their performances. Grace Kim Ju Won and Lewis Mu Zi Long with 2 Golds, Hayley Cassandra Yap Hay Ee, Hailey Chong Sue Huey, Yii Shyun Wern, Liew Ze Hou, Yoong Chang Shen and Kaelyn Chee with 1 Gold each were the other top winners. Sebastien Rion Azlir, Megan Ho, Shusuke Kobayashi, Jaden Ong Jun Xian, Ashley Soh Wern Yi, Vitus So Teng Hoe with Silvers and Xin Qi, Ho Zhi Ju, Yap Inn Xuan, Jiang Bo Xiu, Ng Ze Heng, Ryan Ee Tian Aymes made up the total of podium finishes.
The Relay teams of DSA Swimming Club also had an impressive result with the Girls 11-12 yrs group establishing a new Meet Record in the 4x100M Freestyle Relay event. Besides this, the teams notched up several Gold medal finishes, making the total from the relay events an astonishing 15 Golds. A special mention needs to be made for the many up and coming youngsters who were going through their first competitive swimming experience and all the fun, excitement, hits and misses that come with it. A brilliant performance indeed by these youngsters many of whom were podium finishers, which included Vitus So Teng Hoe, Xin Qi, Kaelyn Chee Wei Yi, Megan Ho, Masato Mark Fujimoto, Lewis Mu Zi Long, Ho Zhi Ju, Jiang Bo Xiu, Olivia Seow Cui Ying and Shusuke Kobayashi. DSA takes pride in moulding the new generation of competitive swimmers over the years, they start off here and go on to become big names in the world tomorrow. And, this is possible only with the dedicated team of parents and DSA coaches who are always there to support and guide the growing champions of tomorrow. One Team, One Dream!

Young swimmers accomplish Swim Team Win
DSA Swimming Club hits top spot at SportExcel First Leg
The SportExcel/Milo/NSC/MAS Junior Swimming Circuit Meet, First Leg was held during the second weekend of March 2022 after a hiatus of 2 years due to the pandemic. The venue was Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsan, Shah Alam, which has been the venue of the event for the past many years. The organizer, Persatuan Renang Amatur Selangor (PRAS), had implemented extra precautions through the necessary SOPs to ensure the safety of the participants and public. There was a limit on the number of participants and spectators with vaccination being a pre-requisite for all participants and officials.
DSA Swimming Club had a total of 198 swimmers participating, and it was indeed a great victory in this First Leg, as the team came out on top, ranking First Overall with 16 Golds and a total of 49 medals. The stars of the Meet included new and young swimmers in the under 10 years age group who are going to be big names in the future. Little girls, Sophie Chan Yi Lin with 3 Golds and Olivia Seow Cui Ying with 2 Golds were the little Superstars for DSA while Evita Tan Ee Lin won a Silver in her event. The under 10 years boys included Ong Zhi Kheam with 2 Silvers and Ho Zhi Ju who added medals to the tally. It was really heartening to see the new generation of young swimmers performing their best at the Meet.
Medal winners in the older age groups included Mellissa Nailly Darwin with 4 Golds; Evan Chua Min Hao and Elsa Eow Yeng Yii with 2 Golds; Elizabeth Chan Yiwen, Sebastien Rion Azlir and Heidi Chong Zi Xin added a Gold each to the total. Annis Hiew Xin Ting, Jaden Ong Jun Xian and Hayley Cassandra Yap Hay Ee were the other medal winners who all did exceedingly well in their events. A detailed view of the medals tally is given below.
DSA Swimming Club made it to top spot, moving ahead from the second place in 2019, the previous time this Junior Swimming Circuit was held. No doubt, the pandemic had created havoc in the training conditions and fitness levels, it was indeed a great effort by the swimmers, parents and the DSA coaches to put together the team and come out winners. A big round of applause to all of them and we wish them best to keep the training and motivation going for the next round of the Circuit coming later in the year.

DSA Swim Team swimmers make mark at Malaysia Open Meet
In a fabulous display of swimming prowess, DSA Swim Team Swimmer qualified for the SEA Games (Category B) clocking 1.51:42 in the 200m Freestyle prelims at the 64th Malaysia Open Swimming Championship. He then went on to better his timing in the final with 1.50:07 and finishing in second place.
The 64th Malaysia Open Swimming Championship is being held at the National Aquatic Centre, Bukit Jalil between 3-6 March 2022. The Meet serves as the qualifying Meet to the 31st South East Asian Games (SEA Games) 2022 in Vietnam and the 19th FINA World Championships 2022 in Fukuoka, Japan.
DSA congratulates Welson Sim for his tremendous performance and wish him the best for the SEA Games.
