Young swimmers win medals in Kuching Meet

1st Sarawak Short Course Sprint 2019

First time competitive experience for junior swimmers

DSA Swimming Club was part of the 400 swimmers from 12 clubs who participated in the 1st Sarawak Short Course Sprint 2019 Meet organized by the Power Aquatics Swimming Club (PASC) and supported by the Sarawak Sport Corporation (SSC). The two day Meet saw participants from both Sarawak and other states of Malaysia besides having some participants from an Indonesian Swimming Club.

The Meet was aimed at providing opportunity and exposure for young swimmers who are beginners and first time completive swimmers. It also serves as a platform to identify potential talent who can be nurtured.

18 young swimmers from DSA travelled to the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre, Kuching, the venue for the Meet, a first time experience for many of them to actually travel outside of Peninsular Malaysia to participate in a Swim Meet. The young swimmers had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed their taste of competitive swimming action and brought home many medals from the Meet. The winners included Olivia Cheong Kah Yan, Dian Isandra Johan, Rex Foong Jie Yi and Ashley Soh Wern Yi. A detailed view of the medals tally is given below. Congrats to all the swimmers on the trip across Malaysia and we wish them more success in their competitive swimming journey ahead. Onward Team DSA.
