DSA Swimmers selected for SEA Age Group 2018

DSA takes great pride in announcing that two swimmers from the team Yap Yong Jie & Lew Zhi Tong have been selected to represent Malaysia at the 42nd SEA Age Group Championship 2018.

The SEA Age Group Swimming Championships is an annual Swimming Championship for swimmers who are 18 yrs & under from all nations of the South East Asia Region. The event this year is hosted by the Philippine Swimming Inc. and will be held from the 6th – 8th July 2018 at Laguna, Philippines.

DSA wishes the budding champions ALL THE BEST and bring home the laurels! We could not be more proud and ecstatic at the thought of our swimmers taking the world stage. Congratulations and Onward Team DSA!

DSA finishes runners-up at Junior Splash


DSA Swim Team youngsters, first-timers shine through with 8 New Records, over 30 Gold

The young swimmers from DSA Swim Team had a great initiation into competitive swimming at the ASUM/NSC/Milo Junior Splash Swim 2018 – Leg 1 held on 11th-13th May at the National Aquatic Centre. Bukit Jalil. Though not able to repeat the championship performance from the previous year, the team gained a lot of experience on the many aspects of competitive swimming. It was great watching them getting into the midst of it all, right from reporting to the Marshall room, marking the events and lanes on their hands and also beating their personal best timings.

The record breakers included the Okuzono sisters with Misa Okuzono setting 4 new records in her events while elder Yumi Okuzono rewrote 2 records in her name. In addition the Girls Relay also made new records in the 4×100 Medley Relay for the 9-10 yrs and 11-13 yrs age groups. Besides these, there was a host of sterling performers from the many young upcoming champions in the team, like Xin Lin Chong in the  Girls 9-10 yrs group who took home 9 Golds and 1 Silver. Eyna Arissa Emil Rinaldi, Alvina Ching Ru En and Xin Ting Hiew were the other Gold medal winners. It was also a stupendous team effort as the swimmers together won medals in 24 Relay events, possibly first time occurrence.

DSA girls win for KL at Malaysia Open

DSA Swim Team girls Yumi, Misa and Georgene made their mark at 61st MILO/PRAM Malaysia Open Swimming Championship which was held recently between 3-6 May 2018 at National Aquatic Centre, KL Sports City, Bukit Jalil. Young Misa Okuzono won her first medal at the Malaysia Open winning the Silver medal in the Women Open 200m Freestyle and Bronze in the 400m IM. Misa was also part of the KL Relay teams along with sister, Yumi Okuzono and Georgene Wee Ee Jern winning 3 Relay events.

Undoubtedly a stellar performance by the young girls reaching this level of competition and competing with the best at national levels, we look forward to even more laurels from them. A special word of thanks goes to the DSA coaches and parents and well-wishers who were the driving force behind the achievements of the young swimmers.

DSA and DSAS compete together at Melaka


SPORTEXCEL / MILO / NSC / ASUM JUNIOR SWIMMING CIRCUIT

The first leg of the NSC/Milo/Sport Excel Junior Swimming Circuit for 2018 was held at Pusat Akuatik Hang Jebat, Melaka on 14-15 April. As with every year, swimmers needed to be in the Top 24 bracket with the highest points to qualify for the Grand Final of the 3 leg Circuit Meet.  This year DSA had the privilege of sending the DSA home team and the DSAS team who competed together under the DSA banner.  The coaches who accompanied the teams, Daniel, Marellyn and Chun Keat, assisted and discussed the pre-race strategies and comments after race to all DSA and DSAS swimmers. Swimmers who made podium finishes included YiYi Lean with 1 Gold and 3 Sliver, Darren Lew Chen Jet with 2 Sliver and 1 Bronze, Yong Jie Yap with 2 Sliver, Samantha Yong Scanlan and Adam Jeffrey Dillon with 1 Silver and Bronze, Eyna Arissa Emil Rinaldi with a Silver and Olivia Cheong Kah Yan with a Bronze.
